Board certified in both pediatrics and allergy and immunology, Dr. Jennifer Sherman has been treating children and adults for more than 13 years. She recently joined the multi-specialty team of physicians practicing at the Summit Medical Group.

“The children I’ve been caring for since kindergarten have now graduated from high school, and patients I first saw as teenagers are bringing their own children to me— which is incredibly rewarding,” says the mother of three boys.

Customized Treatment Plans

Dr. Sherman offers a variety of testing for conditions such as allergies, asthma, food allergy and allergic skin conditions. She then customizes a unique treatment plan for each individual patient based upon their needs. “Food allergy is a growing public health concern. I help patients and their families navigate diagnosis, testing and management. There are exciting developments in terms of treatment, from skin patches to oral immunotherapy, which I very much look forward to utilizing as they become available,” she says.

Treating Patients Like Her Own Children

Dr. Sherman graduated from the University of Albany and earned her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Cooper Hospital, UMDNJ, where she served as chief resident. Her subspecialty training was completed at Nassau University Medical Center, an affiliate of the Health Sciences Center of Stony Brook University.

Dr. Sherman has published and presented research on a variety of topics. She serves as medical advisor to AllerMates as well as local food allergy support groups. “The guiding principle in my practice is that I would never recommend anything for another child that I wouldn’t be willing to do for one of my own sons,” she says.
