Kids ages 5-12 can choose recreation league sessions in January-March (the first winter session is already underway) and play 40-minute games with teams of seven players. Kids ages 5-6 can play five-on-five without a goalkeeper. $85-175 per session.

Your mini-kickers ages 4-6 can learn the fundamentals of soccer through skill drills and weekly competition. Kids ages 7-13 will get a lesson in correct technique and ball placement in Super Strikers. Goalkeepers ages 9-11 can hone their shot-stopping skills in a focused clinic. Clinics run November-February. $219-249/player.

Try a youth instructional clinic for ages 4-10 to improve beginner skills. Kids ages 3-5 can work on passing, dribbling and teamwork in Munchkin Soccer. Kids ages 8-12 can try Soccer Academy, where groups based on age and skill will rotate through multiple stations and work on technique. Strikers and goalkeepers can sign up for Go For The Goal for specialized training over winter break. Camps run December-March (some have multiple sessions). Instructional Clinic and Munchkins $135/player per session, Soccer Academy $250, Go For The Goal $150.

ISP’s Little Kickers offers clinics for young players who want to master the basics and have fun on the field all at once. Sessions for older kids are tailored toward developing technique, improving players’ game and maintaining control of the ball. Clinics are on Fridays and run December-March. $150-190/player.

Red Bulls skills clinics are offered throughout   

NJ and run December-March. Clinics focus on the development of dribbling, shooting, passing, receiving and other techniques. Competitive kids ages 7-14 can join a six-week RDS program (they’ll have to tryout) to improve their goalkeeping or individual and technical game skills. Prices vary by location and program.
