Looking for fun day trips during February break? The Intrepid Museum in New York City is offering a full week of kid-friendly programs from February 14–21. The museum’s Kids Week itinerary is packed with fun STEAM activities, NASA displays and exhibits, hands-on workshops, performances, live animals, special guests and interactive demos.

There are different blocks of themed days. February 14 to 16 focuses on aerospace. Kids will meet members of the Amateur Astronomers Association, take a selfie with Darth Vader from the 501st Legion’s Empire City Garrison, build submarines, learn about space exploration, get hands-on with balloon science kits, become a climate detective during a scavenger hunt, and meet members of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

February 17 and 18 are dedicated to arts and culture. Kids can make their own Pinkalicious crown, meet author Tami Lewis Brown, join a crafting project run by The Ballet Hispanico School, see wax figures from Madame Tussauds New York, celebrate the Tibetan New Year, create art based on Disney’s The Lion King and Aladdin from Broadway, and build LEGO projects.

February 19 to 21 key in on nature and STEM. Kids can make boats to float on water, create a winter-time windowsill salad garden, see a collection of live animals, participate in crazy science projects, and meet firefighters from the FDNY.

Some of the ongoing activities through Kids Week include a Book Nook, virtual reality experiences, maker zones and display tables.
