A new spot for gamers will officially open next week at American Dream, but you can get a sneak peek this weekend. Activate – New Jersey (American Dream), an indoor, interactive gaming experience, will open its first location on the East Coast on Thursday but is now open with limited hours through Wednesday.
There are nine different rooms spread through 5,600 square feet of space where you’ll get to test your physical and mental agility. You have the option to choose from hundreds of combinations of games and difficulty levels, each lasting one to three minutes.
Among the most popular games is Grid, an interactive experience with 256 pressure-sensitive, color-changing tiles that challenge you to step on or avoid specific tiles to complete each round. Mega Grid, double the size of Grid, tests your quick thinking as you race to the right spot and freeze into statues. New at the New Jersey location, Activate is introducing its latest game room, Strike, where during 50 minutes of playing time, you can explore all game rooms available during your visit without being tied to one playing style.
An electronic wristband will track your progress for some friendly competition, whether you bring your fellow moms, your kids or just yourself.
Activate – New Jersey (American Dream) is located in Court A, Level 1 by the Main Stage and will be open Sunday through Thursday from 10 am to 10 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 11 pm, starting Thursday, August 3. Tickets are $24.99 each and give access to the full facility for 50 minutes of playing time.
Activate requires a ticketed adult accompanying children 10 years old and under. For children ages 11-13, an adult must be present at the facility throughout the gaming experience but does not need to be ticketed.
Appointments can be booked in advance online or by calling 201-636-7588. Walk-ins are welcome upon availability. Anyone who stops by this weekend will have 10 percent of their sales donated to Activate’s national charity of choice, Best Buddies.
