Gloucester County Winner: MANTUA TOWNSHIP

Mantua is a Gloucester County suburb all about community. Schools prioritize character education up to 6th grade, and host an annual Big Night Out featuring food vendors, a fun run, live music and more. Past town events also include food truck festivals, Earth Day cleanups and holiday tree lightings.

Mantua is also home to four stunning parks that kids and grown-ups adore. Visit Tall Pines State Preserve, 110 acres spanning ponds, wetlands and tons of unique birds, or Chestnut Branch Park for biking, tennis, basketball and a playground.

The Telford Inn, a historic town staple built dating back to the 1800s, is now home to bar trivia, signature cocktails, Sunday brunch and all-week dinner offerings like one-pound orders of mussels and award-winning slow roast prime rib. Sal’s Pizza & Restaurant is a no-brainer for families with picky eaters.

Fun fact: Mantua Creek was named after the Native American word for frog, “manta,” thanks to the chorus of croaking critters that would come every year.
