New Jersey Ghost Organization

Princeton Tour Company will trek through a graveyard featuring celebrity residents like Grover Cleveland and Aaron Burr, Jr. (Oct. 12- 26). The Halloween Cemetery Visits & Ghost Hunts cover on-campus legends, plus provide ghost hunting equipment like EMF meters and dowsing rods.

Cape May is one of the country’s most famous haunted destinations, which means there are, of course, tons of Cape May Ghost Tours (almost daily all month). Emlen Physick Estate, the town’s original haunted house, should be at the top of your list. Explore the property and learn about Victorian superstitions and spiritualism, plus modern ghost hunting methods. Hop a lift on a signature trolley for Ghosts of Cape May or Ghosts of the Lighthouse Trolley Tours, based on the findings of psychic medium Craig McManus.

Also in Cape May is Historic Cold Spring Village’s Ghoul Spring Village (Oct. 25-26), a chilling venture between the worlds of the living and the dead. Guests ages 13 and up can explore the grounds by lantern while searching for spirits and learning legends of the land.

With a name like Salem City, it’s no surprise this NJ town gets into the spirit every Halloween. This year’s Walking Ghost Tour on October 25 includes a town stroll, light bites and a Tunes From the Crypt Concert at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Walk with the Ghosts Tours (Oct. 25-26) in Burlington stars poltergeists in the form of pirates, witches and beyond. Enter legendary residences and learn the macabre stories that put them on the map before braving one of NJ’s oldest cemeteries.

Head to Montclair on October 27 for the Rosedale Cemetery Walking Tour. Explore the older section of this nearly 200-year-old cemetery while learning about grave imagery and the people buried on site.

Hit the Jersey shore for a NJ ghost tour. Asbury Park’s Ghosts and Legends Downtown Tour, run by The Paranormal Museum, is a seaside haunt with lantern-lit trails that revisit notorious crimes and spirits. Join in any Friday in October, or splurge on a private Ghost Hunt and monitor the museum for activity (you can even stay overnight!).

Ghost Tour of Ocean City (through Oct. 31) will take you to streets (and haunted houses!) rich with history and fill you in on local folklore about everything from pirate treasure to the Flanders Hotel.

Middlesex County Saturdays in October get extra eerie thanks to East Brunswick Ghost Walks (pictured). Meet at the Old Bridge Firehouse and pack a flashlight for a guided stroll through the village with pro paranormal investigators.

Past Events

Start the season early with a NJ ghost tour. Mullica Hill Ghost Walk 2019 is back on October 12, hosted by the Harrison Twp. Historical Society. Explore the town’s historic houses and learn local lore on a 1 1/2-hour guided tour.

Woodbridge Ghost Walk Tours have been a fall staple for a decade. Take a 50-minute tour of the state’s oldest chartered settlement with costumed guides from the Revolutionary War and beyond. Tours leave every 15 minutes on October 12 and 19 starting at 6:30 pm; the later you go, the scarier it’ll be.
