Get Crafty

While you’re enjoying free entry at the Montclair Art Museum on June 1, your five-and-older can work on an art project at the Kids' Creativity Center. This workshop is a drop-off lesson where kids use real art materials and wander the museum’s galleries. If your older kid a comic book lover with a knack for drawing, head to Drawing Comics at the Manville Library on June 2. She’ll hone her storytelling skills and learn how panels, characters and text come together on the page, all from a professional cartoonist. Take a gander at tons of artwork along Bloomfield Ave. in Caldwell at Art on the Avenue. Pieces will be available for purchase. Your crew can also watch artists create new works right before your eyes. This event is on June 3. 

Keyport GardenWalk

Take the gang on a self-guided walk or bike tour of more than 40 stunning historic gardens at Keyport Waterfront Pavilion on June 3-4. You can also go for a ride in a pedicab, shop for plants, explore nearby antique shops and enjoy live music. 

Brooklyn Bubbles Party

What kid doesn't love bubbles? On June 24, head to Homecrest Playground in Brooklyn. You can bring your favorite summer toy to release tons of them into the air. 

Kick Back at a Festival or Fair

Celebrate Wyckoff Day at the YMCA on June 1 at this event with everything from vendors to food to music to rides. And don’t miss out on the Ducky Derby benefiting the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department. On June 3, the Hungarian Festival in New Brunswick will be a blast. Enjoy live music, a beer garden, a folk bazaar and more with the family crew at this cultural celebration. There are live performances, plus a twilight concert and disco. Kids can watch a puppet show, peruse arts and crafts and munch on pastries. Taste something sweet at the West Cape May Strawberry Festival on June 3. This is the seasonal fruit your whole family loves, so chow down on tons of the freshest pies, smoothies and treats galore at this all-you-can-eat festival. On the 3-4, head to Church Square Park in Hoboken for Our Lady of Grace Funfest. Go to this street fair for games, face painting, carnival fare and more. Grown-ups can enter the cornhole tournament on Saturday night to play for a cash prize. Saturday's NiteFest is adult-oriented, while FunFest on Sunday is more family-friendly. Garwood Rocks on June 4 has a car show, beer and wine garden and music while the little ones run wild in the KidZone. Your crew can also shop vendors and kick back to live entertainment. The Hasbrouck Heights Street Fair in on the same day. This town fair has it all: sand art, a petting zoo, pony rides, a trackless train and more. Make sure you bring your appetite for all the festival fare, including empanadas and cheesesteaks.

On June 11, head to the Hoboken Annual Spring Arts & Music Festival. There are endless crafts and products to check out with more than 300 artisans and vendors present. Indulge in street food and live music while the kids enjoy games, face painting and rides. June 15-18 is the Roebling Carnival on Nyikita Field. Kids can run amok exploring the amusement rides, games, carnival treats and local performances. Don’t miss out on tasting local cuisine like bacon bread and stuffed cabbage. The Tri-County Fair at Christ Church in Rockaway is on the same weekend. Brace yourself for a whole lot of classic carnival fun, including rides, games, entertainment and fireworks. Don’t miss the car show or World Famous Frisbee Dog Team. Head to the 7th Annual Cultural Festival and Food Truck Rally on June 17 at Mercer County Park in West Windsor to celebrate diversity and cultural heritage at an outdoor festival with music, dance, art and snacks. The food trucks vary to include a number of different cuisines your crew will love. The Father’s Day Street Fair on June 18 in Nutley will be a blast for the whole fam. Check out the wares of more than 100 exhibitors, then grab lunch, go shopping and take the kids for a pony ride. Summit's Summer Street Festival on June 25 will become a seasonal favorite. Check out food vendors, live music, face painting, jugglers, crafts, clowns and more. 

Music Under the Stars

This summer concert series at Flemington's Deer Path Park will be a blast for all ages. Kids and adults dance to live music as the sun sets over Hunterdon County. This event runs on Thursdays from June 29-August 17.

Head 10,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Magician Steve Woyce has a special show for little shark lovers. The Magic of Sharks is on June 3 at Emerson Public Library. This comedy magic show teaches audiences facts about sharks, as well as games and a shark-building magic trick.  Celebrate all things marine life at World Oceans Day at Jenkinson's Aquarium in Point Pleasant on June 10. Learn how to keep the water clean and enjoy dive demos, activities and crafts. 

The Jersey Shore Comic Book Show

Peruse the comics, artwork and costumes of comic book fans, artists and writers alike in Smithville on June 4. Don’t miss special guest cosplayers and superheroes.
