One of the most common words used to describe New York is “resilient,” and a new, free 10-day immersive experience showcases New York City in all its glory.
Through The Living Portrait of NYC, you can see, hear and feel what it’s like to live as a New Yorker. Citizens worked on launching this multimedia, multi-sensory experience that will display data, images and audioscapes that truly reflect the creativity, vibrancy and resiliency of the city. From Sept. 18 – 27 you can experience intimate personal stories and the journeys that bring NYC’s famed neighborhoods to life.
The 10,000-square-foot experience will be separated into four rooms. The first will showcase the city’s quirks. The second will share audioscapes of 5,000+ New York stories captured over 400+ hours. The third will showcase a multimedia portrait of the city over 24 hours of city life. The fourth allows visitors to create portraits of their own. And, as part of the experience, over a dozen New York artists from different backgrounds will appear live to perform for visitors.
Citizens has been compiling these stories since February through the acquisition of HSBC’s East Coast branches and of Investors Bank – created by New Yorkers for New York. The Living Portrait of NYC will be housed at 29 W. 23rd St. in the Flatiron district of Manhattan. You can book your timed complimentary ticket between 12 and 8 pm daily from Sept. 18 – 27. But don’t delay — time slots are filling up quickly.
