Fans of “Coming to America” — and the new “Coming 2 America” sequel, this is your chance to eat at McDowell’s, the restaurant that is totally not McDonald’s from the hilarious comedy starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall.

The people responsible for Galaxy Burger and Beyond, have launched a new pop-up experience,  McDowell’s,  at the Cherry Hill Mall now through Sunday, April 25.

“We wanted to attract people to malls to support the businesses there that are struggling, while creating a family-friendly activity that would also be compliant with COVID protocols,” says Joe McCullough, founder and CEO of JMC Pop Ups LLC.

“The response of the fans has been so enthusiastic and supportive that we decided to tap into another set of fans apart from science fiction. McDowell’s was the perfect choice, and the recently vacated California Pizza Kitchen at Cherry Hill Mall is the perfect location. It’s exciting to see people coming back to the malls.”

At McDowell’s, diners will enjoy an eatery inspired by the fictitious restaurant from the original movie. There will be interactive photo opportunities with props, including Employee of the Month.

There’s also a Beer Garden on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Forgotten Boardwalk Brewing.

Timed tickets for McDowell’s are available for advance purchase only here.  The first seating each day is at 11:00 a.m. and last seating is at 7:30 p.m. A regular MickTicket is $28 and includes your choice of the Big Mick, Chicken Chunks or the Louie Anderson, plus fries and a drink. The Meatless Mick (Impossible Burger on a vegan bun, no cheese) is available for an additional charge. Or go big with the Magnum Mick—big enough for two, but you can handle it. You can also upgrade any regular MickTicket to VIP and you’ll also receive a commemorative McDowell’s t-shirt.

For kids 10 and under, the Mildly Amusing Meal ($15) includes a child-sized burger or chicken nuggets plus small fries and apple juice or water.

Now cover your kids’ eyes and ear as we tell you about dessert. At McDowell’s you can indulge in the Sexual Chocolate Cake Shake. A keepsake glass with the rim coated in chocolate and nuts is filled with an extra thick and creamy chocolate milkshake, with a chocolate-covered cherry safely hidden at the bottom. The shake is also topped with an entire slice of American Marshmallow Chocolate Chip Cake, consisting of three layers of moist chocolate cake, two layers each of marshmallow creme and cookie dough, iced with delicious fudge frosting, chocolate cake crumbs and more fluffy marshmallow topping.
