There’s no business like show business – and business is back this weekend as the Curtain Up Broadway Festival returns with a series of outdoor shows taking place in Times Square.

The Times Square Alliance is uniting with Playbill, The Broadway League and Prudential for a three-day outdoor event where you can dance, sing and recite your favorite lines during a variety of interactive events and performances. They all free, live and open to the public!

There will be three stages. Head to the Mainstage on Duffy Square at 7th Avenue and 46th Street for major events like the kickoff concert, the Broadway Block Party, dance lessons, game shows, after-dark events, and the finale concert. Belt it Out on Broadway Dueling Pianos will be along Broadway between 45th and 46th streets, featuring your favorite songs and showtunes. Take photos, play a tune, or enjoy a concert on Playbill’s Sing for Hope Piano on Broadway between 47th and 48th streets; this will be available every day.

Please note that performers are subject to change, especially as the effects of Hurricane Ian roll in. Check the schedule first before heading to NYC.

On Friday, the official kickoff celebration starts at 2 pm at the Mainstage. Then, join a variety of sing-alongs to belt your favorite tunes: “Chicago” at 3 pm, “Wicked” at 3:45 pm and “Little Shop of Horrors” at 4:30 pm, all part of Belt it Out on Broadway. Times Square will “ignite the night” with a large-scale street party at 5 pm in Duffy Square for The Broadway Block Party. Stick around for Curtain Up After Dark from 6:30 – 8 pm at 45th and 46th streets for performances by the Broadway Sings Band and special Broadway performers – audience members will help choose the next song using their mobile devices!

Come back on Saturday beginning at 10:30 am and be part of the processional through Duffy Square as Ailey’s West African drummers and dancers lead New Yorkers of all ages to the Curtain Up mainstage, where you’ll learn modified excerpts of Alvin Ailey’s masterwork, “Revelations.” Make sure you wear comfy clothing. Belt it Out continues with a sing-along from “Kinky Boots” at 11:15 am. A variety of songs played on dueling pianos is at 12:30 pm. Play the Playbill: Game Show Live! at 1 pm on the Mainstage – watch as Broadway stars test their knowledge of all-things Broadway. Jason Gotay will be on stage at 3 pm to sing selections from his Audible Original, “Where You’ll Find Me,” which honors the women in his life. His show plays at the Minetta Lane Theatre Sept. 30 – Oct. 2. Return to the Belt it Out stage at 4 pm for another series of Dueling Piano shows.

Then, One Night Only: A Benefit Concert for The Entertainment Community Fund takes place at 5 pm on the Mainstage. Join stage stars and celebrities for a one-night-only celebration of Broadway. Another Curtain Up After Dark takes place at 6:30 pm. You can get in on the action by choosing the songs played during the show if you donate to The PATH Fund using your smartphone.

Rain or shine, Curtain Up! Live from Broadway will be held at Duffy Square from 11 am – 1 pm. This concert will mark the end of the festival by showcasing the new Broadway season. The concert will air live on ABC TV, too! Finally, visit the Belt it Out stage from 1 – 3 pm for the closing Dueling Pianos show. You’ll once again be able to choose the tunes.

American Sign Language interpretation will be provided during many of the Curtain Up events.
