Due to a devastating fatal accident on March 17 at a Florida performance, the NJ opening of VOLTA has been postponed. Yann Arnaud, a veteran performer, fell from 20 feet in the air to the stage during an aerial routine and later died from his injuries. The new premiere date is scheduled for Friday, April 20. The show will run until May 6.

Cirque du Soleil is known worldwide for stunning choreography and dazzling acrobatics. The new VOLTA show will bring all those elements back to the stage at Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment in East Rutherford. The show will open for a limited engagement in NJ this month.

VOLTA is a show themed around freedom of choice and the importance of choosing one’s own path. The production’s concept was inspired by the culture of action sports and is described as a “space-age” futuristic addition to the classic Cirque stage. VOLTA has a lesson that parents will appreciate for the kids: be true to yourself and learn how working as part of a group can help you achieve your true potential.

The kids will be in awe of BMX masters, who’ll invade the stage on bikes, ballerinas, hip-hop-inspired rope skipping and fearless acrobats.

Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment is located at 1 Racetrack Dr., East Rutherford. Tickets for VOLTA start at $55. Purchase a family pack of 3 or more tickets for a 20 percent discount. Visit cirquedusoleil.com/volta or call 1-877-924-7783 for details.
