About Upper Township

Originally home to the Lenni Lenape Indians, Upper Township in Cape May County has been around since 1798, and has become a quaint vacation spot for ocean lovers. With beaches in Strathmere (which are free!), Tuckahoe and Beesleys Point, plus campgrounds, parks, golf courses and opportunities for boating and canoeing, what’s not to love about this oft-overlooked vacation spot?

With 63.4 square miles and easy access to the ocean, this rural township is more than just another beach town. With sports associations ranging from football and hockey to wrestling and lacrosse, there’s plenty to keep the kids active and entertained during the off-season.

Students grades K-8 attend school in district, while a majority of the township’s teens head out of town to Ocean City High School, home of the Red Raiders, and can take a variety of language classes like American Sign Language, Greek and Latin.
