The American Girl Place store in New York City that’s been a long-time favorite for fans of the dolls is getting a complete makeover. American Girl is moving to 75 Rockefeller Plaza, where its nearly 40,000-square-foot, two-story store will open the weekend of November 11-12. The new store will be the first to showcase an “evolved retail environment” for its young girls.
“Today, with our move to Rockefeller Center, we’re once again on a mission to redefine how girls and their families experience American Girl with a more purposeful, fun, and creative retail environment,” said Wade Opland, American Girl’s senior vice president of retail.
There will be tons of revamped and totally new features at the store. Here’s what to look out for:
The Media Studio
Hands-on creative play activities allow kids to tailor their visit to their personal interests. For example, the Studio will have instructional classes on health and wellness activities.
The Cafe
You’ll want to reserve a spot for afternoon tea, brunch or dinner before the holiday season gets underway. The rotating menu offers healthy options for adults and kiddos.
Private Party Rooms
A popular destination for celebrations, you can still plan your little ones’ birthday party in one of the store’s party rooms. There are new personalized features like projections and themed packages, which start at $39/girl, $29/adult.
The Salon
When your daughter brings her doll to the salon, she’ll have the opportunity to jump in the chair for a side-by-side styling experience. You can already make reservations for hair styling, manicure and ear piercing services.
Content Hub
From YouTube to movies to books and other special events, your young fan can connect to her favorite doll on a bunch of platforms. This spot will also be used for special events.

There are 20 American Girl stores in the US and two international locations in Canada and Mexico. American Girl Place first opened its doors in New York in 2003 and has opened a variety of temporary and permanent boutiques since its grand opening in Chicago in 1998.
If your daughter is a superfan, she may be interested in American Girl at Radio City’s Christmas Spectacular, where she can meet a Rockette and have dinner at the American Girl Cafe afterward for a classic NYC holiday experience.
