If you’ve been hesitant to go back to the movies, AMC wants you to try their new promotion in which you can rent out the entire movie theater for the low price of $99 plus tax. As theaters across the country have suffered incredible losses while forced to close due to coronavirus, AMC is hoping customers will feel more comfortable seeing a movie in private.
The deal offers the entire theater for a private screening for up to 20 people total and is advertised as great for “an everyday escape or a celebration to remember.” To make the event even more special, you can rent a microphone to welcome your guests for an additional $100. You’ll get fifteen minutes in the auditorium before the start of the movie, but if you want more time, you can rent the theater for $250 per half hour. And if you want to get really fancy and do a slideshow or presentation before the movie, that can also be arranged for an additional fee.
It’s definitely a bid that the world’s largest theater chain is making in an attempt to try and stay afloat as its been speculated that the company could run out of money by the end of the year.
And with the delay of major Hollywood releases like Wonder Woman 1984 it’s been even more difficult for theaters to get customers in the door.
AMC has previously tried offering low price ticket promotions and has been showing “throwback” movies to make up for the lack of new releases to screen. This writer, who has been back to the movies several times in New Jersey, found herself and her kids in a “private theater” anyway since they were the only ones who showed up!
To host a private screening, just fill out the event inquiry form on AMC’s website and someone will contact you asap. You can also call 1-888-740-4262 for more information.
