High Exposure in Northvale, a spot beloved for its rock gym, Ninja Warrior obstacle course and parkour facility, has been a NJ go-to for fitness and fun for some time. But did you know the facility trained a national climbing champ?
Adam Shahar, a 12-year-old rock climbing prodigy, just snagged the title of national champion for the Male Youth C age group in the Sport Climbing Series (SCS) Nationals Competition in Atlanta, GA this month. How’d he get there? Two and a half years of training and HIgh Exposure Climbing’s head coach, Charlie Schreiber, and his team. After a dozen years of competing (and ranking) on a national level himself, he passed down the tradition to Shahar in an astoundingly short period of time.
This isn’t the only top-tier climber High Exposure has trained. This season, the gym sent 10 climbers between ages 8 and 14 to the National Championships. Their performances ranked the gym 24 of 95 in the US.
Think your kid could be a natural? Bring ‘em into High Exposure to try their luck on the indoor rock wall, 32-foot-high Leap of Faith, the ninja course complete with warped walls, a salmon ladder, devil steps and more, parkour course and more. Classes are available year-round while summer is prime time for camps in the obstacle course and bouldering.
