The Elf on the Shelf has been creeping around our homes for more than ten years, while Mensch on a Bench is going on its fifth Hanukkah. This year, you won’t need to wait until December to bring out a sweet seasonal bestie. Turkey on the Table is the Thanksgiving equivalent to the beloved elf and mensch.
Created by two California moms, the adorable stuffed turkey sports a big red wattle, string scarf and paper Thankful Feathers. Every day, the kids can write something on the feathers that they’re grateful for and add it to the turkey. By the time Thanksgiving hits, you can display all the feathers and read them aloud before your meal. Then, use the gussied-up gobbler as a table centerpiece or fall decoration.
Bonus? Turkey on the Table teamed up with Feeding America, a national organization dedicated to hunger relief, so every bird bought brings 10 donated meals to a person in need (by the end of 2018, 1 million meals had been donated!).
Turkey on the Table kits are $40. You can also buy additional replacement feather packs, Santa hats for the turkey and Giving Feathers, special Feeding America feathers that equate to 25 donated meals.
