Throw a Cool Geode Party

Give your geology-obsessed little one a cool geode party.

You don’t have to be a geologist to dig these gorgeous confections. The three-tiered version is currently a favorite at weddings, but kids will appreciate something smaller, like cookies or cake. The secret to the crystallized effect? Easy-to-make rock candy.

Have your geode cake be the star of an educational event by booking a party at the Morris Museum, home to one of best geological exhibits in New Jersey. Children hold minerals, compare different rock types and design their own bracelets using semi-precious stone beads (non-members, $10 per child, morrismuseum.org/birthday-parties).
