There are always lots of blockbuster films released during the summer months, and this year is no exception.
So take the kids, enjoy the film and the theater's air-conditioning!
Here are some of this summer's biggest releases:
May 24: Epic (PG) – this fast-moving adventure comedy takes place in a miniature world, where the forces of good and evil battle to protect nature, or destroy it.
June 21: Monsters University (G) – the much-anticipated prequel to Monsters, Inc., this comedy is full of laughs. Be sure to also check out the hilarious website MonstersUniversity.com.
July 3: Despicable Me 2 (PG) – the Minions are back in this sequel to the incredibly popular Despicable Me.
July 3: The Lone Ranger (PG 13) – based on the classic radio show, this action-adventure Western stars Armie Hammer as "The Lone Ranger" and Johnny Depp as Tonto.
July 17: Turbo (PG) – DreamWork's latest film tells the story of Turbo, a snail who finds he has the power of super-speed, and uses it to try to win the Indy 500 in what appears to most to be an impossible dream.
July 31: The Smurfs 2 (PG) – in this sequel to The Smurfs, evil Gargamel creates Naughties, Smurf-like creatures which he hopes will help him harness the magical Smurf-essence. When this fails, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette in hopes she will be able to help him in his dastardly plan.
August 7: Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (not yet rated) – based on the book of the same name, this fantasy adventure continues this hugely popular story on screen.
August 9: Planes (not yet rated) – Disney presents new plane characters like "Dusty" and "Rochelle" in this film which is billed as "from above the world of cars."
September 27: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (not yet rated) – starting where the previous film ended, inventor Flint Lockwood finds that his infamous machine that turns water into food is still in operation, and is creating food-animal hybrids, foodimals, and he must save the day.
