Chicken parmigiana — or anything parm, for that matter– may be the perfect food. Who doesn’t love a breaded cutlet smothered in marinara sauce and topped with baked, bubbly, mozzarella cheese? Sorry if we’ve made you hungry, but thankfully Eat This, Not That! has identified the best chicken parm in every state and hopefully NJ’s top pick is not too far a drive for you!

Laico’s in Jersey City is a neighborhood institution, known for serving up classic Italian fare in a cozy, friendly setting. Their tried-and-true dishes have been satisfying happy customers since 1972. Their homemade salad dressing, desserts and cocktails are favorites with the locals, but now that their chicken parm is on the map, we won’t be surprised if this favorite becomes a destination for foodies far and wide.

“Run, don’t walk, to Laico’s, Jersey’s very own Italian fine dining restaurant that has been a community staple since the 1970s,” wrote Eat This, Not That! “We love how their chicken parm is available to order alone or as a combination platter alongside their homemade eggplant parm.”

The pick for the best chicken parm in New York was Da Nico Ristorante in NYC’s Little Italy while Pennsylvania’s best came from Little Nonna’s in Philly. Both seem like worthy destinations for a family field trip!

Or, you could just try making some yourself. The Pioneer Woman has a special recipe that’s worth trying.  “Break out the good Parmesan for this one, my friends,” says Ree. “It’s the right thing to do.”
