The Skylands Manor House will be decorated floor to ceiling for this year’s theme of “A Holly Jolly Holiday.” Stop by to see the decorations on a self-guided tour. If you’d like a private tour, there will be a special reception available on Saturday evening.

Winter Wonderland

During this two-day festival, hop on The Wonderland Express, visit the petting zoo, go “ice” skating, give Santa your letter, look at all the decorations, make your own “reindeer food” and listen to holiday music. On Friday there will be a tree lighting at 6 pm.

Christmas Outreach
Liquid Church in Mountainside, Parsippany, Princeton, Somerset and Wayne

Help pack 1 million meals to serve the hungry. Liquid Church is partnering with Rise Against Hunger to host meal packing outreaches across the state. The Christmas outreach is family-friendly and volunteers of all ages and stages are welcome to serve.

Weihnachtsmarkt German Christmas Market

Visit Santa and Mrs. Claus in Santa’s Courtyard. Chat with local author, Sue Steinhardt, and her dog, Phil. Follow the Candy Cane walkway to the petting zoo and pony rides. Take a family horse-drawn wagon ride. Inside the Greenhouse will be the Mt. Pocono Train Exhibit, Sussex County Flower Show and Sussex County Schools Decorated Trees. Expect hundreds of food vendors and crafters. There will be local singers and dancers performing throughout the weekend.

Princeton Dance Festival

Lewis Center for the Arts’ Program in Dance presents their annual festival that features a diverse program of repertory and new works by nationally and internationally recognized choreographers performed by more than 50 Princeton dance students. The program includes tap, ballet, dance theater, West African/modern and post-modern genres.

Model Railway Show

The Garden State Model Railway Club now features two large operating layouts with multiple engines running at all times, including steam and diesel locomotives, Thomas & Friends, freight and passenger trains. A separate hands-on layout for children allows them to control their first train. There is also a block layout for toddlers, with plenty of chairs for moms and dads to take a break and watch their little ones play.

Drive through the cemetery grounds viewing live Biblical scenes starting with Isaiah telling of Jesus’ birth and ending with the Nativity. Over 100 actors including numerous volunteers and live farm animals recreate key scenes of the historic Christmas narrative. There are more than 500 luminaries to light your way and you’ll even witness Roman Centurions tending campfires.

One Life to Love Art Exhibit

Courtney Lalotra founded the Home of Hope in India, creating a safe haven for the children of the streets. Ten years later, the organization grew to be known as One Life to Love. A Celebration of Old Trees Art Show

Thirty-four paintings and photographs by noted local artists will tell the story of the century-old apple trees at the original Terhune farm. The exhibit brings to light the effects of climate change and focuses on how trees act as a buffer against climate change. The art will be up for viewing in Barn Door Cafe.

The Embankment On My Mind

The original art is inspired by a grassroots preservation initiative for transforming Jersey City’s treatment of open space and an emerging trail system. The exhibition features illustrations of all the images in the book, as well as preparatory materials, by Johnson, on public view for the first time. “Stand Up!” is on view in the Zimmerli’s Duvoisin Gallery, dedicated to showcasing original artwork for children’s books.
