From clean-ups to festivals, there are plenty of ways to celebrate Earth Day with the family this weekend all around the state. Other fun events include the Kite Festival at Pier Village and the first-ever Porchesfest in Princeton. Make it a weekend to remember by showing your little one why our planet matters and by having tons of fun while you do it!

Wool Days/ Sheep Shearing
Historic Longstreet Farm, Holmdel
Saturday – Sunday
Harvesting wool is a farm activity performed every spring. Visit the farm this weekend and learn how the farmers use traditional blade shearing practices to remove the fleece from our sheep. Gene Sheninger will return with his collies to show their herding skills.

Brick Fest Live
New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center, Edison
See LEGO Exhibits on display, enjoy live interactive shows, life-sized builds and shopping for LEGO merch. Don’t miss the chance to build your part of the Guinness Book of World Records setting Brick Mosaic.

BaconFest 2022
Laurita Winery, New Egypt
Saturday – Sunday
Come join for an outdoor, fun filled day of relaxing fun on the grounds of Laurita Winery. Pair delicious wines with the many delicious food offerings available from onsite food trucks. Each visitor will be given a unique souvenir Laurita wine glass. Other treats include a face painter for kids, firepits, fantastic fireworks (Saturday evening) and access to many unique and popular food trucks.

Shad Fest 2022
Saturday – Sunday
Celebrate the spring migration of the herring fish from saltwater to freshwater. Check out the region’s finest artists and crafters and sections of children’s activities, home & garden, and a farmer’s market. Local’s Lane will feature artists from the Lambertville/New Hope area.


U-Pick Tulips
Holland Ridge Farms, Cream Ridge
Come and get stunning photos and videos amongst the 8 million tulips. You can pick as many as you like for $1 per stem. The tulips will be in full bloom this weekend, so don’t miss out!

The market will host an array of native plants, baked goods, artisan crafts and so much more!

Earth Day Work Day
Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge, 4 Sawmill Road, Medford
On this day you can get free admission to the Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge to paint, work on trail maintenance and help with other projects to beautify the grounds. Volunteers must be ages 13 and up.


Earth Day Celebration in Cape May
Cape May County Park and Zoo, 700 U.S. 9, Cape May Court House
Over 50 environmentally friendly exhibitors will fill the tents on the main field with assorted conservation and eco worthy goods and displays. The day kicks off with entertainment for the kids and an opening ceremony. This year special guests and costumed characters will amuse while teaching everyone how they can help “Save Planet Earth!”

DEP 50th Anniversary and Earth Day Celebration
1 Audrey Zap Drive, Jersey City
Join the Department of Environmental Protection for this family event featuring food trucks, lawn games, education programs, face painting and more.


Princeton Porchfest
Porchfest is a walkable music festival where neighbors offer up their front porches as DIY concert venues. Talented performers will play rotating sets throughout the neighborhood during this day-long celebration of music, art and the incredible Princeton community. Stroll from porch to porch to enjoy live, local talent!

Art Walk at Historic Smithville
Historic Smithville, Galloway
Stop by the Village to see over 75 local artists display their work. Rain date for this event is April 24th. Historic Smithville offers 50 Shoppes, seven eateries, a carousel ride, train ride, paddle boats, arcade, on-site lodging at the Colonial Inn and over 26 free weekend events.   

Community Day: Celebrating Earth Day
The Newark Museum of Art, Newark
Celebrate our amazing planet in a day of fun for the whole family. Enjoy musical performances by Bash the Trash, get up close with live animals and jump into our many other offerings. There’ll be artmaking activities, interactive tours, storytelling and special planetarium shows. This is also the last weekend to see Endangered!, an immersive experience of different natural environments.

Paddington Gets in a Jam
State Theatre New Jersey, New Brunswick
Watch Paddington, the famous, accident-prone bear, as he makes his stage debut in this fun filled comedy. Paddington is making his favorite marmalade jam with the help of the Brown’s housekeeper Mrs. Bird, but they run out of sugar, so Paddington heads next door to borrow some from Mr. Curry. Unfortunately for Paddington his good intentions end up leading to chaos!


Monster Jam
MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford
The most action-packed motorsports experience for families in the world today returns to East Rutherford for an adrenaline-charged weekend. Monster Jam®, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, features world-class athletes locked in intense competitions of speed and skill. At the Monster Jam Pit Party, fans can see the massive trucks up close, meet their favorite drivers and crews, take pictures and enjoy other family-friendly fun.

Broadway at Westfield Garden State Plaza
Westfield Garden State Plaza is hosting a free 15-week series every Saturday through June 25 that features performances from hit Broadway shows for children in partnership with Bergen Performing Arts Center. Come out and see memorable scenes and songs from your favorite Broadway shows and modern movies — this weekend it’s “High School Musical.”

Grayrock N Roll Spring Festival
Grayrock Farm Sanctuary, Clinton
This fun festival will have over 60 vendors selling everything from baked goods and jewelry to toys and wreaths. There will also be food trucks, face painting, a DJ rocking the farm all day long and a performance from an acapella group. Rescue groups will be on site with dogs, cats and kittens up for adoption. Best of all visitors get to meet the sanctuary horses, goats, pigs and chickens!

Annual Kites at the Pier Festival
Chelsea Ave. Beach, Long Branch
The 6th Annual Pier Village Annual Kite Festival will feature kite flyers from all areas of the eastern seaboard flying their most incredible creation from inflatable flying creatures to giant sea and land kites to traditional kites visible for miles and miles.

Cooper Sprouts Garden Monarch Butterfly Garden Planting Event
616 Newton Avenue, Camden
Adventure Aquarium and Camden Urban Agriculture Collaborative (CUAC) are working together to celebrate AZA’s Party for the Planet by planting a monarch butterfly garden at Cooper Sprouts Garden. Volunteers will assist in the planting of the monarch butterfly host plant, milkweed and a variety of flowering plants that the monarch butterfly and other native insects use as food.

2nd Annual Autism Awareness Walk
Lincoln Park, Jersey City
Bring your family and show support for the autism community. Participants will receive a t-shirt, food, music, and activities when registering.

Bound Brook Food Truck and Musical Festival
Billian Park, Bound Brook
This fun-filled family day will feature food, beer, music and more. There will be 15+ gourmet food trucks, live music from three bands, pony rides, a petting zoo, knockerball, hatchet throwing, face painting and more. Bring non-perishable canned or boxed items to help support the food pantry.

Potato Planting
Howell Living History Farm, Hopewell Twp.
Visitors of all ages can join workhorses Bill and Jesse to help plant a field of potatoes that will yield over 2,000 pounds of food for local soup kitchens. While farmers drive the horses and steer the plow to open up the rows, helpers will follow behind with baskets of seeds and place them in the furrows.

Trails Day
Merchantville Bike Path, Merchantville
Celebrate Trails Day with the Rails to Trails Conservancy on the Merchantville Bike Path.  There will be a special presentation at Eclipse Brewing. Learn bike safety, sustainability tips and tricks, enjoy movement and exercise with Movement 4 Wellness and enjoy activities for the kids.

Family Fun Day: Arbor(etum) Day!

5K Run/ 5K Walk 4 Family and Friends with Cancer

This event will benefit two non-profit organizations: The Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as the Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Southern New Jersey (JFCS) Financial Assistance for Cancer Patients Program. This JFCS program provides financial assistance for local families affected by cancer.

Run the Vineyards Renault Winery 5 Miler and Food Truck Festival

Run a flat 5-mile course at New Jersey’s oldest active winery. Then refuel at the after-party featuring live music, food trucks and a beautiful setting for you to enjoy.  Awards will be given to the top 3 overall finishers and the top 3 in each age group and there will be swag, too!

G-Funk’s Super Hero Fun Run

This is an all-ages and stages inclusive event that promotes family fitness and fun. Use your super powers to run, walk or fly through the course and meet your favorite superheroes along the way! There will be superheroes spaced out throughout the course that will guide you through a quick obstacle or exercise.

Holi Festival of Colors

Celebrate the festival of colors at this Holi event in Secaucus. There will be free colors given out to participants. 

Millburn-Short Hills Street Fair & Craft Show
Downtown Millburn
Join for live music, a DJ, dancing, delicious foods, performances and more. The event is family-friendly and will also include children’s rides, games and more fun.

Paramus Food Truck Festival
700 Paramus Park, Paramus
Kick off food truck season at Paramus Park Mall. This will be a fun-filled family day with over 20 gourmet food trucks, music, pony rides, a petting zoo, knockerball, hatchet tossing, inflatables, face painting, sand art and more. Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable canned or boxed item to help support the Paramus Food pantry.

Winery Weekend Music Series
