Think you live in one of the best NJ towns? Two of them made Money Magazine’s latest list of The Best Places to Live in America.

Piscataway, a township in Middlesex County, came in at number 68. Franklin, a township in Somerset County, came in at number 88.

The list includes cities, towns and neighborhoods which were ranked based on affordability, population, crime risk, income and diversity. From the 1,796 places that made the cut nationally, the list was narrowed down to 100 based on more than 80 factors like economic health, cost of living, education, housing and local amenities. Reporters also interviewed residents to get a full picture of each place.

Other driveable towns that ranked on the list include Ditmas Park in Brooklyn (number 11) and Clarkstown, New York (it’s just over the Northern NJ border, number 91).

On our 2019 Best Towns for Families list, Piscataway ranked at number 187. Franklin Twp. came in at number 289. Plainsboro ranked as the top town in Middlesex County and number 16 in the state overall. In Somerset, the top town was Montgomery, which also topped our overall list at number 1.
