What inspired you to start your business?
Being a mom inspired me to start my own business. I was working at my dream job, but missing things at home like first steps and first words. I needed to find a way to apply my skills in a situation that would allow me to have work/life integration, and so, The Social Status Co. was born.
What was your proudest moment as a business owner?
There is no prouder moment than writing checks to the people on the team! I love watching women grow in a role that they love and they succeed in.
What do you love most about what you do?
One day it’s back-to-back meetings, the next we’re on set for a shoot—every single day is just so different and we work with such a variety of clients that things are never boring.
What is your business best known for?
We’re best known for our 360 approach to marketing. Our social, PR and influencer teams work seamlessly to provide the best strategy for our clients.
What was your most memorable experience with a client?
We are proud partners of Runway of Dreams / Gamut Management and love that we have established ourselves as the social-first agency for the disability space. It’s a very exciting time for the community, and we’re proud to be experts in how to market to people with disabilities, and how to give people with disabilities a voice on social media and in the press.
What’s one thing you wish everyone knew about running your own business?
It’s a 24/7, 365 job. You wake up thinking about your company, and you go to bed thinking about your company.
How has your business evolved?
We were originally solely focused on social media and content creation, and we’re a full-service agency just six years later. It’s very exciting to continue to expand our services and partnerships.
What was the hardest part of getting the business started?
Confidence! Being confident in your business plan, and your team, and yourself is the ticket to success.
What’s next for The Social Status Co.?
We’re really excited about our newest vertical, The Generation Ahead (thegenerationahead.com) where we’re focusing on all things Generation Alpha. We know they have incredible influence and purchase power, and we’re really interested in helping brands effectively market to this newest generation of consumers.
How is your business involved in your local community?
We’re right on the main street in Scotch Plains, so we’re always open to supporting anyone who comes through our doors. We sponsor school events, Girl Scout events, local teams, and run fundraisers year-round. Let us know if you’re ever in a pinch for a conference room!
