The Benefits of Being Outside in the Cold (No, Really)

Turns out it's just as important to get outdoors during the winter as it is any other season.

Spending time outside can be tough when the weather’s frigid. But outdoor play is just as important in the winter, and it’s great for your kids. In a University of Illinois study, kids with ADHD showed better concentration after just 20 minutes in the park. Outdoor time also reduces risk of obesity, improves socialization skills and lowers stress. So, next time you’re tempted to watch a movie together, get outside and moving instead. Bundle up and go sledding or on a winter hike. Studies show grown-ups get a boost from being outdoors, too.
