Some of the Best Burger Joints in North Central NJ

Who has the best burger in New Jersey?

Who has the best burger in New Jersey? It's hard to say—everyone likes something different. Whatever your preference, here are 10 of the best burger joints around (as mentioned by our Facebook fans back in May, in honor of National Hamburger Month!).

25 Burgers

With (you guessed it) 25 choices, including chicken burgers and a "burger of the month" there is something for everyone here. Five locations (Bound Brook, Linden, Matawan, and Woodbury).

Bobby's Burger Palace

This place is the Bobby of Bobby Flay fame, and offers a choice of 10 burgers, including a burger of the month. Other notable options are the Crunchburger, which is the amazing and decadent combination of American cheese and potato chips. Locations in Paramus and Eatontown.

Burger Deluxe

Choose from 22 half-pound burgers at this fun, retro-inspired restaurant. Located in Wayne, NJ.

Cheeburger Cheeburger

With the motto "Big is Better," it's no surprise that Cheeburger Cheeburger prides itself on the size of its burgers, including a 3/4 pounder and their "Famous Pounder," and if you finish this you get your photo added to their Hall of Fame. Nine NJ locations, including Newark Airport, East Rutherford, Flemington, and Hamilton.

Elevation Burger

If you're looking for organic and earth-friendly, Elevation Burger is your place. Offering only 100% grass-fed beef that is ground on premises, they are committed to sustainably prepared food. Locations in Montclair and Moorestown, and more opening soon.

Five Guys

With a simple menu and regular-sized burgers, what they don't have in flash they more than make up for with downright delicious burgers and hot dogs. This place is a favorite with my family. Over 15 locations in New Jersey, including Hoboken, Millburn, Madison, Jersey City, Westfield, and Bayonne.

The Kilkenny House Restaurant & Pub

This family-owned pub brings "warm Irish charm to Cranford, NJ." Beef-eating guests will enjoy the signature Kilkenny Burger served on an Irish muffin; non-beef eaters, will be thrilled to find turkey burger and veggie burger options.

Next Door

You'll find just one burger on the menu here, but that's all you'll need—it's considered the best by many, recently taking first place honors in New Jersey Monthly's Great Burger Showdown. Located in Montclair, not coincidentally, next door to Blu.

The Shannon Rose Irish Pub

This favorite has three locations in NJ: Clifton, Ramsey, and Woodbridge. The Clifton location boasts "Voted 'Best Burger in Clifton' by the Clifton Journal."

Smashburger

Tagline here is "Smash. Sizzle. Savor," and while I admit not understanding why I would like my burger smashed (or the smasheddog and smashedchicken also available), there's no denying these burgers are delicious. All burgers are freshly cooked, have a wide range of toppings available, as well as a choice of five artisan buns. Six locations, including Florham Park, Newark Airport, New Providence, and Glen Ridge.

Station Pub & Grub

Your family will enjoy eating hamburgers in this nostalgic pub located in Bernardsville—it's modeled after a 1920's first-class train station lounge. The Station Burger is served a la carte with toppings such as a variety of cheeses, caramelized onions, smoked bacon, and more. French fries, sweet potato fries, or Yukon gold potato wedges are also available!

White Manna

This old-school diner serves sliders, considered by many to be worth the trip no matter where you're coming from. Service and decor are on the light side, but your bill is too. White Manna is in Hackensack; White Mana with one less "n" is in Jersey City.

Zinburger

This wine and burger bar bills itself as "contemporary. upbeat. fun," and offers gourmet burgers and a carefully chosen wine list. Enjoy burgers of the week, shakes of the month, and a nice range of selected wine pairings. One location in Clifton, NJ.
