With Broadway theaters shuttered until January, it isn’t a huge surprise that the annual Radio City Christmas Spectacular has been officially canceled for the year. A holiday trip to NYC to see the Rockettes high-kick their way through this show (which is also near Rockefeller Center’s famed Christmas tree), is an annual tradition for many New Jersey families.
“We regret that the 2020 production of the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes® presented by Chase has been canceled due to continued uncertainty associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.” said MSG Entertainment in a statement on their website. “We are disappointed for everyone involved with the show, as well as for the many fans who make the Christmas Spectacular a cherished part of their holiday tradition. We look forward to welcoming audiences back for the 2021 production, which is on sale now. All tickets for the 2020 production will be automatically refunded at the point of purchase.”
The show, which features the famed Rockettes dance group, has been running since 1933. It was slated to open in November and close in January, and is expected to resume in 2021.
In the meantime, the Rockettes are still offering weekly virtual classes on their Instagram page so you can get your fix.
