Each year, Project Mrs. Claus fulfills the wishes of children and their families who are experiencing hardship during the holiday season. This year, things have been tougher than ever in the face of COVID-19 and more elves are needed to bring some much-needed holiday magic to those that need it most.
Project Mrs. Claus, sponsored by the Coconuts Kid Fit Foundation, has been going since 1994 with thousands of families’ wishes fulfilled. The idea for Project Mrs. Claus was born when founder Deana Valente read countless letters at a New York City post office. Letters were addressed to the North Pole written to Santa. Many of the letters were from children that were well behaved throughout the year asking Santa for presents but other letters were of a different tone. These were letters written to Santa, from kids or parents as that were cries for a helping hand sent out into the universe with no expectation of being met.
Now, during this challenging time in our history, the need to support friends, family and our communities is even stronger. Participating in Project Mrs. Claus is a great way to help others from a safe distance while reminding your own family of just how much they have to be grateful for. This year, their goal is to bring hope and joy to 100 kids and families, and you can be a part of it.
Each year requests from families come in the early weeks of December. Letters from children include requests mainly for toys as one might expect, but there’s also a need for clothing and other essentials. Parents and guardians write letters in search of help to provide their family a joyful Christmas.
Project Mrs. Claus is underway and is looking for families that wish to get involved and bring the magic of Christmas to a child and their family this holiday season.
