Penguin Palooza

Mr. Popper has penguins—and New Jersey does too.

Waddling out to the theater to see Mr. Popper's Penguins this weekend? Dive into penguin-mania to see how New Jersey (and our online friends) celebrates the polar bird.

Where to go:

Stop by Penguin Island to see the cute and funny African penguins at the Camden Adventure Aquarium (they've got 18 of them). To see the penguins swimming and diving, kids can watch through the 20-foot underwater viewing area. The aquarium is located on 1 Riverside Drive, Camden, NJ; 865-365-3300.

If you can't make it to see the 15 African penguins (shown) who call Jenkinson's Aquarium home, watch the live web cam. Starting Friday, June 17th, watch the penguins being fed at 12 pm and 7:30 pm daily. Jenkinson's Aquarium is located on the boardwalk in Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ; 732-899-1659.

Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, NJ is home to a flock of endangered African penguins (aka black-footed penguins and jackass penguins). The zoo participates in the penguin species survival plan breeding program; 973-371-5800.
