New Jersey’s own Paul Rudd wants you to wear a mask! The Passaic-born Rudd filmed a PSA for his “homie” Gov. Andrew Cuomo as part of the “Mask Up, America” campaign and in it he’s speaking to the millennial generation about how to play their part in stopping the spread.
In the hilarious clip, Rudd, 51, wears a hoodie and headphones and speaks directly to the camera.
“I was talking on the iPhone with my homie, Gov. Cuomo, and he’s just going off about how us millennials need to wear masks because, get this, apparently a lot of COVID is transmitted by us millennials,” he says.

“So Cuomes asks me, he’s like, ‘Paul, you’ve got to help. What are you, like, 26?’” says Rudd, who is famously thought to never age. “And I didn’t correct him. So, fam, let’s real-talk. Masks, they’re totally beast. So, slide that into your DMs and Twitch it.”
The actor, who introduces himself as a “certified young person,” continues to speak to his generation about the importance of masking up when you go out. “We want to go to bars, we want to drink, hook up, do our TikToks. I get it. I’m not gonna preach at you like some celebrity. Ugh. This is a convo, where I talk, you shut up. Wear your mask.”
Toward the end of the clip, the “Clueless” actor turns serious. “Just wear a mask. It’s simple, please. It’s not hard. People are dying! Hundreds of thousands of people are dying, and it’s preventable.”
“I shouldn’t have to make it fun. It’s science!” he says. Other ads in the series for the #MaskUp campaign have featured Billy Crystal and Robert De Niro.
We say it’s time for Gov. Phil Murphy to hit up some Jersey born-and-bred celebs for our own campaign. We nominate Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Willis and, of course, The Boss!
