Overlooking the Navesink River lies a gem of a town that has a lot more than waterside living going for it. Fair Haven, a quaint beach town with a stellar public school system, boasts a diverse population and some seriously prime real estate.
Fair Haven isn’t your typical beach town. Almost all of its residents—more than 6,000—live here full-time. And at just 1.7-square-miles, you can bet it’s a tight-knit community. The annual Fair Haven Volunteer Fire Company Firemen's Fair is the largest in the entire state (put it in your calendar for the end of August). Another beloved tradition: “Transition Day,” an endearing ritual where the elementary school principal leads graduating third graders on a bike ride to their new school.
You also can’t beat the convenience of being right next to the breathtaking Jersey Shore, but still a realistic drive away from NYC. There are also huge perks for being nestled between towns like Rumson and Red Bank. Fair Haven residents attend Rumson-Fair Haven High School without having to pay Rumson’s high property taxes. —Murphy Moroney
