Have you heard the buzz? Not only is Cirque du Soleil coming back to Newark this summer, but its new show will center around – insects.
OVO gives you a look into a day in the life of bugs. They’ll be working, eating, crawling, fluttering, fighting, playing, and even looking for love. Watch for crickets bouncing on a trampoline and a spider inside her web.
It’s high energy, with tons of amazing acrobatics, featuring three new acts and new characters – for a total of 100 performers from 25 countries.
There’s a storyline here, too. When a mysterious egg appears in their midst, the insects become curious about this object that represents the cycle of their lives (the word ovo means “egg” in Portuguese). It’s love at first sight when a quirky insect arrives and a fabulous ladybug catches his eye—and the feeling is mutual. There will be symbols of birth and the life cycle throughout the show.
Cirque du Soleil will present OVO at the Prudential Center in Newark at 7 pm June 20; and 3 pm and 7 pm June 21 and 22.
