Here are some family-friendly events that look like a blast! And keep in mind, some of these events occur on multiple dates and/or times, so you're sure to find one that fits the whole family's busy schedule.

Saturday, January 14 – Sunday, January 15 (and every Sat. and Sun. through Mar. 25)
Looking for something to do outside during the winter weekends? Grab a camera or phone and stop by the Haggerty Education Center for a nature photo scavenger hunt. Visitors can pick up the list, head outside, and shoot away. Take a picture of every item, then return to the center to pick up your prize. Call or go online to register.

Come dressed as rock stars, and you'll be accessorized with sunglasses, tattoos, hair extensions, and makeup! Kids will have an opportunity to learn and play with different instruments led by talented musicians. Afterwards, they will get to put on a rock concert! Ice cream sundae finale!

Celebrate Dr. King: Explore the Dream Through Art

Express Yourself Studios in Maplewood, NJ
Monday, January 16

Children will learn about Dr. Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement through art–exploring the themes of peace, equality, and friendship. All participants are asked to bring a canned or boxed non-perishable food item to be donated to the Wallace Chapel Food Pantry (a service of Wallace Chapel Church) in Summit, NJ.

A winter hike can rejuvenate your spirits and your connection with the earth. Discuss good stewardship practices as well as how to "lead" others on the trails. Then warm up by the campfire with stories and hot chocolate. Registration required.
