McFlurry lovers, it’s your lucky day. McDonald’s Shamrock Shake is coming back tomorrow nationwide to celebrate the dessert’s 50th anniversary. With it comes the new limited-time OREO Shamrock McFlurry. This is the first time in three years that the Shamrock Shake is coming back across the country.
If you’ve never tried one of the beloved fast food chain’s seasonal treats, the drink is made with vanilla soft serve and minty Shamrock flavoring, blended and finished with whipped topping. The McFlurry is made with the same mint-flavored vanilla with OREO cookie pieces mixed in. Both treats sport a signature Shamrock green color.
The Shamrock Shake was invented in 1967 by the owner of a Connecticut McDonalds. He made the shake in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. It debuted in 1970 at select US locations and the rest is history.
The shake was sold nationwide for the first time in 2012. This year, it will leave the mainland for restaurants in Canada and Ireland.
