March STEM Events for Your Small Scientists

New Jersey Maker’s Day is this month, so keep a close eye out for events taking place Friday-Saturday, March 9-10 in celebration.

Get Your Geek On!

When: Saturday, March 10
Where: Wayne PAL, Wayne
Price: $40/team
Deets: Each team (at least one adult and one kid) will hit different stations and complete timed tasks. You’ll build LEGOs from memory, try an egg drop challenge, make paper rockets and more. Registration required.

Smash: Steam Trains!

When: Saturday, March 10
Where: New Jersey State Museum, Trenton
Price: Free
Deets: Ages 5 and up can learn about New Jersey trains while celebrating Maker’s Day. They’ll build a train, discover the power of coal and create art.

STEAM for Young Children

When: Thursday, March 15
Where: Hudson’s House of Play, West New York
Price: Free
Deets: Little ones can try an interactive STEAM activity with other kiddos, plus enjoy free dinner and open play. Registration required.

STEM Career Showcase

When: Friday, March 16
Where: Independence Seaport Museum, Philadelphia, PA
Price: Free
Deets: Both parents and students can learn about STEM careers. Kids can discover opportunities while parents get tools to better support their kids’ career paths.

St. Patrick’s Day STEAM Hour

When: Friday, March 16
Where: Warren County Library, Hackettstown
Price: Free
Deets: Ages 8-17 are invited to participate in science experiments: dye a flower green, make rainbow paper and grow seeds out of a sponge. Registration required.

Small Explorers March Program

When: Saturday, March 17
Where: New Jersey State Museum, Trenton
Price: Free
Deets: It’s never too early to get them interested in STEAM. Start with the story If the Dinosaurs Came Back, then hit the Written in the Rock exhibit. They can get involved in hands-on STEAM activities, play with dinosaur costumes, puppets and more.

Teen Marine Science Institute

When: Saturday, March 17
Where: Adventure Aquarium, Camden
Price: $100/person
Deets: Teens can gain hands-on experience in advanced marine science and discover opportunities in biology-related careers.

Special DigiGirlz Girls Who Code Event at Microsoft

When: Saturday-Saturday, March 17-24
Where: Microsoft, Bridgewater Commons Mall
Price: Free
Deets: For two hours, girls can learn why computer science is important and how it can be used to enhance things they already love. Plus, they'll learn what it's like to work in the tech industry and how to turn their passions into a career. RSVP for a spot.

STEAM Ahead

When: Saturday, March 24
Where: Morris County Library, Whippany
Price: Free
Deets: Grades 1 and up can explore the world of science with an entertaining activity.

Techno Brick Fest

When: Saturday, March 24
Where: Mount Olive Senior Center, Budd Lake
Price: Free
Deets: He can become a master builder, get his face painted, watch robotic demonstrations, grab photos, play games and more.
