Veteran's

There are plenty of ways around the state to volunteer and honor our vets on Veteran’s Day (November 11). This year, you can get the kids involved in a special way.

Michael Diederich, a World War II hero who’s turning 102 on November 20, has a special request for his birthday. This vet’s birthday wish is to get 102 birthday cards sent to his residence at CareOne at the Cupola in Paramus.

While abroad during WWII, Diederich served as a nose gunner and bombardier in a B24 Bomber. He completed 35 missions over Germany. You may even recognize him from the time he threw the first pitch at a Yankees game last year.

Want to send Michael a card in time for Veteran’s Day and his birthday? Round up the kids, break out the crayons and crafting materials and get to work! Here’s where to address them:

Michael Diederich
CareOne at the Cupola
100 W. Ridgewood Ave.
Paramus, NJ 07652
