Six Flags Great Adventure is about to transform into a magical winter wonderland. More than a million glittering holiday lights, festive foods and epic rides are planned as part of Six Flags Great Adventure’s 2020 Holiday in the Park.
The winter festival will be the biggest yet with 14 specially-themed areas. “Now more than ever before, families are yearning for safe ways to make new and lasting memories together,” said Park President John Winkler. “Six Flags is laser-focused on safety, and our comprehensive, new protocols have demonstrated that we can deliver the fun and thrills our guests expect in a clean, socially distanced, and safe environment.”
Holiday in the Park will debut these new attractions:
Jolly Jamboree
This themed section includes magical lighting, traditional wreaths and garland, and decorated trees. Holiday “Feastival” will serve hot holiday fare. Visitors can warm up by the fire pit and toast s’mores, shop for stocking stuffers, play holiday games, or sample seasonal spirits. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there through Christmas.
Jack Frost
Expect a “chilly” greeting from the master of cold in Snowman City, the newest addition to the park’s character appearances.
Illuminated Animals
Illuminated animal figures will be on display in the newly-themed Wild Lights National Park.
Wild Safari Extension
The park’s Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure will remain open on weekends and select days through Nov. 29. Specially discounted tickets are available online. Reservations are required.
Signature attractions include:
Holiday Magic: A Celebration of the Season
A spectacular light show on a five-story-tall tree will take place nightly every 30 minutes and feature special effects, music and gently falling snow. This majestic tree is located in the heart of the park.
Character Appearances by the Royal Court
Holiday queens, kings, princesses, reindeer and toy soldiers will appear throughout the park. You can also catch Santa and Mrs. Claus on their visit from the North Pole. Social distancing will be enforced.
Gingerbread Junction
A giant, inflatable gingerbread man will welcome visitors amid peppermint swirl-wrapped trees. There will also be a Peppermint Princess and dancing lights around the carousel pavilion.
Polar Point
Ice-blue trees will twinkle with the illusion of falling snow while the Snow King and Queen greet guests at a distance.
Joy to the World
A path of lit trees, luminaries and stained glass will showcase religious holidays from around the world.
More Holiday Fun
Six sections of the park will have fire pits for toasting s’mores. Spiked eggnog, holiday-flavored coffee and hot chocolate, peppermint and mocha fudge, seasonal beers, funnel cakes, specialty holiday platters with cranberry sauce, chili bowls, smoked meats and more will be available. Massive inflatables, mistletoe, beautifully decorated trees, and Santa’s home are just a few of the park’s most festive photo spots.
