LEGO Just Launched a Social Network Where Kids Can Share Their Creations

Got LEGO-obsessed kids? This free app for kids 13 and under is a safe place to share the stuff they build

On Tuesday, LEGO announced the launch of a free app for iOs and Android phones called LEGO Life, which encourages kids 13 and under to share their creations, watch animated videos, compete in building competitions and check out what other kids are making.

Here’s how it works: kids sign into the app and get a suggested username (kids aren’t allowed to use their real name) before creating their own avatar persona. Parents are also required to approve their kid’s email address before they’re allowed to post anything.

AND FYI: Only photos of LEGOs are allowed to be shared, so you don’t have to worry about pictures of your kid floating around the internet. The commenting feature is also limited. Users can only use LEGO-themed names to leave their two cents on their peers’ photos.

The strict sharing and interactive guidelines were created to battle the online bullying and harassment that often takes place in the comments section on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Another added bonus? The app is designed to get kids off the couch and actually doing stuff—like building an engineering foundation, for example. You can download it for free at Google Play.
