If you live in North Jersey and love the beach but hate the idea of sitting on the parkway for hours, there’s a fast and fun alternative for a shore trip. The Seastreak Ferry, which departs from Wall or East 35th Street in Manhattan, offers a 35-minute ride to Sandy Hook, which means you won’t have to pay for parking at the front gate. We recommend parking in Hoboken or Jersey City and taking the PATH into NYC.

Once you board the luxury ferry decked with cushy seats, you’ll travel through NY Harbor to Sandy Hook. The first stop is North Beach, where there are fewer crowds. If you want to hit up other beaches during the day, you can take a free shuttle. And if you time it just right, you’ll sail back to NYC underneath the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge as the sun sets.

The kids will love riding through the NY Harbor, but if it’s just you and your sweetie, plan to indulge in an on-board cocktail. Tickets start at $30 per person and kids under 12 are free. Check out seastreak.com for more info.
