Get ready, a new option for kids' birthday parties is coming. Dave & Buster's is slated to open a new location in Wayne on February 14, just in time for Valentine's Day. This chain recently opened its first NJ location at the Woodbridge Center Mall.
The entertainment complex will be approximately 46,000 square feet, and will have the latest in arcade games, a sports bar, innovative cocktails and more. The mega-arcade will be located on the second floor with both indoor and outdoor points of entry.
A recent decision to overturn an antiquated law from 1959, which prohibited alcohol of sales where games of chance (like skee-ball, Whac-a-Mole, balloon pop, and crane machines), was a determining factor in D&B's decision to open in NJ.
Council President Lonni Miller Ryan, a big supporter of the project, told northjersey.com that the decision was easy to make across the board.
"I took that information to the mayor and council and we had unanimous support to change our highway commercial zone to allow businesses like Dave & Buster's in anticipation of the state law change. The state law was changed and Wayne was ready."
