Are seasonal allergies making your kid miserable? Try these strategies:
• Ensure he drinks plenty of water. The extra liquid thins mucus in nasal passages.
• Inhaling steam from a bath or shower can help her breathe easier. A humidifier fills your kid’s room with soothing steam, which can help her sleep better. Check your humidifier’s owner’s manual for information on how often to clean it.
• Close windows to keep outside air and pollen from entering the house. Once everything’s shut, run the air conditioner. If your kid has severe allergies, consider buying an air purifier with a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filter, which should be cleaned every 2-3 months.
