THE LOOK Assorted shades of turquoise and teal with pops of orange will transport your guests to your very own Atlantis. Place seashells on table tops, hang inflatable fish from the chandelier, and if you’re feeling ambitious, create a barnacle backdrop by gluing cupcake tins to hanging strips of various blue-toned crepe paper.

Under the Sea Party FoodsTHE EATS Fish is the obvious choice here—don’t be afraid to overdo it! Guests will appreciate your creativity in working the ocean angle. Serve up fish sticks and octopus-shaped hot dogs for the kids; steamed clams and shrimp cocktail for the adults. Place goldfish crackers into tiny fish bowls for cute and casual munchies. And if you have the crafty inclination, cut out a watermelon in the shape of a shark’s mouth and fill it with fruit. Sand-dollar cookies and cupcakes adorned with Swedish Fish round out a day at sea. Plus, get hooked on Ocean Potion: lemonade, blueberries, & thyme sprigs. "Water" you waiting for?

THE FUN Reel in the little fishies for some sea-themed crafts, including making sand-art necklaces and painting seashells and fish-shaped suncatchers. If you’re reasonably sure friends won’t mind taking home kids in various degrees of drench, hand out sea-creature water squirters.

THE FAVORS Decorate canvas bags with sea scenes and each child’s name in which parents can collect their kids’ underwater treasures. Beach towels and inexpensive sets of sand toys are also a “shore” catch!
