Brace yourself, people: this could get cheesy. Hoboken Happy Hours is hosting it’s second-ever Annual Mac & Cheese Festival on March 21, and rumor has it foodies will have to act swiftly to get a ticket. Last year, they sold out in just seven minutes!
This event follows in the footsteps of the crowd favorite Hoboken Pizza Fest. This year, your crew can take on some of the most outrageous and popular mac dishes from Hoboken restos and eateries during one of two sessions with live music, swag and games. A portion of the proceeds benefits Party With Purpose, a nonprofit dedicated to raising money for children’s charities and inspiring community.
Participating locations currently include uniquely cheesy concoctions from Tony Boloney’s, Madison Bar & Grill, Sorrelina, Texas Arizona and more. Try the standard mac and cheese from The Ainsworth, macaroni au gratin from Barbès and everything from blackened steak mac to buffalo mac from Madd Hatter.
There will also be $5-6 draft beer and $5 house wine available for purchase. If you get a sitter, consider splurging on the two-hour open bar for an extra $25 (you’ll also get a spot in the VIP line to get in). Don’t forget to peruse the merch table, snap shots in the photobooth and take part in contests before heading home.
The festival takes place at Our Lady of Grace Church (400 Willow Ave., Hoboken) from noon to 5 pm on March 21. Tickets go on sale January 21 at noon. Tickets are timed, so you can indulge from noon to 2 pm or 3-5 pm. Your $30 entry scores you a sample from every vendor, live music and access to contests and swag. Get group discounts for parties of four or six. Head here to purchase.
