If you’re looking for things to keep the kids busy on President's Day and winter break, here’s an awesome option: Kids’ Week at the Intrepid. Head to New York City anytime between Monday, February 20 and Friday, February 25 and to check out the Intrepid Air & Space Museum during its brand new Kids Week.
On top of exploring the massive ship, the nearby submarine and seeing the space shuttle, this year your brood can play some cutting-edge digital games, design their own games, check out interactive displays and watch live demonstrations. Families get the inside scoop on all the logic and imagination that goes into game design and scientific investigation and the kid will get to build, tinker and play.
There are also opportunities to hear from experts like the famous zoologist Jarod Miller and his team of animals and Mike Massimino, a real-life NASA astronaut. Plus, museum educators will lead live demos, planetarium presentations and sketch theater performances.
The best part? All Kids Week activities are free with museum admission. For a full schedule of the week’s happenings, go to intrepidmuseum.org. Can't make it that week? Plan an epic sleepover in the shadow of the space shuttle.
