When’s the last time you went to the museum as a family? Clear your schedule on September 22: You’re hitting a museum for free.

In honor of Smithsonian magazine’s 14th annual Museum Day, participating museums and cultural institutions will let you in on the house with a Museum Day ticket (a ticket gets you free admission for you and your kid).

Twenty-three NJ locales made the list, including faves like the Cranberry & Blueberry Museum at Whitesbog (Browns Mills), Dey Mansion (Wayne), Historic Smithville Mansion (Eastampton), Hunterdon Art Museum (Clinton), Liberty Hall Museum (Union), Morris Museum (Morristown), New Jersey State Museum & Planetarium (Trenton) and Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University (New Brunswick). You can also hit NYC spots like the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, the American Folk Art Museum or head to Philly landmarks including the African American Museum in Philadelphia and The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University.

This year’s theme is Women Making History and the Smithsonian is asking Museum Day participants to let the mag know via social media the women trailblazers and pioneers they encounter on the 22nd.

Tickets are now available for download. To follow the event on social media, follow @MuseumDay, #MuseumDay and #WomenMakingHistory. If you have questions about bringing multiple kids or the minimum age that counts as a guest, Smithsonian recommends calling the museum you’re visiting ahead of time. If your kid can get in free there all the time, you might still have a guest entry up for grabs.
