Who Needs a Conductor?

February 23 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Event Series (See All)
Free

All of the members of the orchestra know how to read music and play their instruments, and yet they have someone in front of them with his or her back to the audience waving a stick. Is this conductor their coach or coordinator or cheerleader, and do the musicians even pay attention to what he or she is doing with that “baton?”

By listening to excerpts from a Bach prelude, Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and American composers Bernstein and Copland, hear the sounds of the various instruments and find out how the conductor makes the magic of music come together.

You and the kids can join Maestro Anthony LaGruth and the Livingston Symphony Orchestra for a free family concert (donations accepted) that includes a prize raffle for children.

The orchestra asks that children under 12 be accompanied by an adult.
