Description

Over 50 years ago, the herbicide Agent Orange was manufactured along the banks of the Passaic River. Dioxin, a lethal byproduct of Agent Orange, made its way into the waterway, sank to the bottom of the Passaic River, and became toxic sludge. In 1984 a stretch of the lower Passaic River was deemed a Superfund site which is the highest rank and priority that a toxic site can receive by the Environmental Protection Agency. This Tuesday, December 11, join us as Ana Baptista, Chair of the Passaic River Superfund Community Advisory Group, provides us with an update on the cleanup efforts at this Superfund site. Registration is required. Register at GreatSwamp.org or call 973-538-3500.
