Description
Somerset County Park Commission Lord Stirling Stable, located at 256 South Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, is offering an Introductory English-style horseback ride on Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon. Registration is in progress online and at the Stable office and will continue through Thursday, August 15, 2019, as space permits.
Participants will enjoy a brief group lesson with one of Lord Stirling Stable’s riding instructors followed by a one-hour guided trail ride through Lord Stirling Park.
The Introductory Ride offers an opportunity for novices to sample a trail ride on horseback and see if they enjoy the experience. It is also a great “refresher” for those who have not ridden in a long time. The ride will take place rain or shine. Heavy downpour or hazardous weather conditions may result in cancellation.
Youth and adults who weigh less than 200 lbs. and are at least 9 years of age are eligible to participate. Riders between 9 and 18 years old must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. Participants age 9-11 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the ride. A certified equestrian helmet and shoes or boots with hard, smooth soles and a definite heel are required and may be borrowed from the Stable for the ride.
The fee for the ride is $40.00 for Somerset County residents and $50.00 for out of county residents. Preregistration is required with payment made by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover is required at the time of registration.
Lord Stirling Stable is located within Lord Stirling Park in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, and is nestled within 500 acres of the western portion of the Great Swamp Basin of the Passaic River. The Stable features a large indoor ring, three outdoor rings, daily Lead Line pony rides, and 18 miles of beautiful trails.
