Pumpkin Patch Fundraisers, in cooperation with the Navajo Nation in New Mexico, grows 1,200 acres (approximately 2 square miles) of pumpkins and employs over 700 Native Americans during the harvest months of September and October. They also have a full-time off-season staff that is comprised of entirely Native Americans. This has a positive and lasting impact on a region with 42% unemployment.
When you purchase a pumpkin at Pluckemin Presbyterian Church, you're not just getting a fun decoration, you're helping the Navajo and Pluckemin Presbyterian Church at the same time. A portion of the proceeds come back to the church for community outreach.
The patch is open daily from Oct. 9 - 31 from 12 - 6 pm.
