Description
Einstein was born on March 14 — 3.14 — the numeric equivalent of Pi! Every year, the town of Princeton celebrates with an irrational number of events, including a preteen Einstein look-a-like contest and a pi recitation contest, expert memorization speaker, rides on the Dinky with Einstein, presentation by children's book author Dan Gutman of "Einstein Was a Dope?", Albert Einstein lecture, Pi-Rade storytime and book signings, a self-guided tour of Einstein's neighborhood and pie sampling.
Most events are free to the public. Some non-profits and businesses charge nominal fees.
Most events are free and located in downtown Princeton or Princeton Shopping Center.
2023 Pi Day Celebration Schedule
Saturday, March 11
8 a.m. Pie Flight Experience – LiLLiPIES at Princeton Shopping Center (pi priced experience offered through 2:00 p.m.)
10:30 a.m. Pre-Teen Einstein Look-A-Like Contests – Arts Council of Princeton
11:30 a.m. Learn to recite Pi from the first person to achieve 10,000 digits! – Arts Council of Princeton
12:00 p.m. Pre-Teen Pi Recitation Contest –-Arts Council of Princeton (Pi-Rade immediately follows)
12:00 p.m. Einstein exhibition – Historical Society of Princeton at Updike Farmstead (open through 4:00 p.m.)
1:00 p.m. Princeton School Gardens Cooperative Fundraiser – the bent spoon & LilliPies (all day pi priced pairing)
1:30 p.m. Children’s author Dan Gutman appears via ZOOM to discuss his children’s book with Historical Society staff – Princeton Public Library
2:00 p.m. Dinky Train Rides with Albert Einstein (meet at Wawa Station)
2:30 p.m. Einstein Open Archives Event for families with crafts and STEM activities – Princeton Public Library 3rd Floor (open through 4:30 p.m.)
3:14 p.m. Einstein Self Guided Walking Tour (available to participants attending the Einstein Look A Like or Pi Recitation Event)
