Description
Arts in Oakland is excited to announce its participation in Creative Bergen’s Arts Amble, a three day countywide event for all ages. Oakland’s inaugural show features local performing and visual artists hosted at the Oakland Public Library Gallery and outdoors in Veterans Park at 2 Municipal Plaza, Oakland, NJ with performances scheduled for Friday June 11th 4pm-8pm, Saturday June 12th 10am-5pm and Sunday June 13th 10am-5pm and gallery works viewable during regularly scheduled library hours.
Bring a blanket and get comfortable while you enjoy a variety of performances and activities set outdoors in the scenic beauty of Oakland including a book reading by children’s author Larissa Symbouras and Peppa Pig author, Courtney Carbone, Zumbini with Sarah will get kids (0-5 years old) moving, sing along Disney Princess style with Gira Derise-Weaver, a dance exhibition by Dance Theater of NJ and samples of musical theater by Rhino Theater. View a Plein Air painting demonstration with Vilma Mirkov from U Paint Studio and listen to the musical styles of indie/pop solo acts Kay Roman and Amanda Masefield, 90’s and classic rock from The Real Brave Ambassadors and guitarist Gabe Franco and sing and dance along with FLOW Follies & Friends. Topping off the weekend will be very special guests International Finger Style Guitar Champion Mark Sganga and then Andrew Schwartz performing his Elton John’ish solo experience. A schedule of performances and artist information can be found at www.oaklandartsamble.orgÂ
In addition to the Performances, Arts in Oakland will be hosting an Art Show in the Oakland Public Library Gallery during regular library hours. Amble through the lower level to view a variety of artworks and meet with the local artists including Photography works by both Annie Piombino and Emily Kern, Paintings by Tracy DiTolla, Terry Galvin Anderson & George Krane, Mixed Media by Natasha Hoen, Aleksandra Kozlovski and Natalya Kozlovski, Beadwork by Mame Schwarzfischer, Shadow Boxes by Peter Marcalus and Sculpture by James Klimek plus works by Painter/Children’s Author Larissa Symbouras.Â
Arts in Oakland was created to support and promote local visual and performing artists, and share with the Borough of Oakland our passion for the arts. By hosting our first art show within the community, Arts in Oakland hopes to use this show to spark new programs and provide more opportunities for local performing and visual artists to show their artistic talents to their friends, neighbors and to the world around them. Future goals include becoming a 501(c)(3).
